7 Reasons to Go Out Street Witnessing

June 19, 2013

Some of these reasons are applicable to only street witnessing (sharing your faith primarily at specific outreaches with strangers) but others apply to both street witnessing and sharing your faith in general.  May this list stir up in you an even greater burden and desire to see our Great God glorified through the preaching of His Glorious Gospel!

Reasons #:

7. Practice makes perfect.  Sharing the Gospel takes practice.  No one is good at it the first time.  It is a lot easier (at least for me) to share the Gospel with strangers rather than my friends.  Think about it:  You have nothing invested in a stranger relationship, so if they get upset at you for sharing the Gospel with them, it doesn’t matter as much as if it were a family member or friend.  So practice articulating the Gospel and answering those hard questions with strangers who you don’t have anything invested in. 🙂

6.  Often times we get to be the answered prayer to a mom or a dad or a brother or sister’s prayer.  You don’t know how many times I’ve been sharing the Gospel with someone and they tell me that their Mom or Grandfather, or aunt says the same thing.  If we have unbelieving family and have tried sharing the Gospel with them, we all know how hard it can be.  Think about Jesus.  He did the least amount of miracles in his own hometown because he was not honored.  Many times the person I am witnessing to says they have such an easier time talking to me then their family member and that they are able to dialogue more freely.  Praise God!  I got to be an answer, I’m sure, to a family member’s prayer!  It’s like that with my little brother.  I’m just his crazy older sister.  He won’t listen to me.  So I’m praying for a Christian to   Now waiting to rise up and talk to him about Jesus!

5. It’s set aside time in our busy schedule.  We all know how life gets hectic and days go by so quickly and then we realize we haven’t shared our faith in weeks, maybe even months.  Well having a set aside time to go out and share your faith helps with this matter.

4. You get to fellowship with other believers who are passionate about seeing God’s glory proclaimed to all people.  When you hang out with people who are on fire for Jesus and zealous for His glory it is contagious and it stirs you up!   Also, you get to hear how other people share their faith and pick up some cool things from them.  We send out believers in pairs that way if you get stuck, you have the other person there to help you out.

3. Your relationship with Jesus will deepen.  When I get to share Jesus over and over again with people it makes me love my Jesus more.  It reminds me just how significant and how huge Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross was for me.   It makes me stand in awe of God and how he uses a stay at home mom like me.  What an awesome honor and privilege to partner with the Creator of the Universe, the God who spoke the heavens and earth into existence, in sharing the message of the eternal salvation with those who are lost and perishing.  WOW!

2.  It stirs up compassion in you for other people.  When you are active in sharing your faith and you hear firsthand the depravity of man and the stronghold that Satan has on people, it will break your heart for those who don’t know Jesus.  Matthew 9:36 says, “But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.”  So to when we step out of our comfort zone and start sharing our faith, we will see souls who are without the Lord and walking straight into eternal destruction.   It will move us to compassion.

1.  It is a command for every Christian.  Mark 16:15 states to, “Go out into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation.”  Paul says we are ambassadors of Christ and ministers of reconciliation.  I love the quote by Charles Spurgeon:  ‎”It is the whole business of the whole church to preach the whole gospel to the whole world.”  Let us be obedient to God’s Great Commission and get out and share our faith!
