As followers of Christ (Christians), our job is to step out there and proclaim. We introduce another to Christ, whether or not they decide to invite Him in as Lord of their life is between them and God. To think that God has chosen this deeply personal way of sharing, as the way to reveal His power and love to others, is simply amazing. God wants to be known on a personal level. He is not merely contained in the pages of a book, He is at the door of our hearts, knocking. And says “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” (Revelation 3:20)

God longs for us to realize our diminished state before him, and that we will one day stand before Him and bear an account of our lives. The bible teaches us that “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) The penalty for sinning against God is death (Romans 6:23). This death is not merely on this earth, but there is a second death (Revelation 20:14), which is eternal punishment in the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15).

God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, and wants all to repent and come to a saving knowledge of him (Ezekiel 18:32). But because we each have clearly violated the laws of God, in thought and deed, He cannot overlook or have any relationship with us in our sinful state. In fact, the right thing for Him to do is to punish the guilty. And God does not show favoritism. He is completely Holy, impartial, Just and True. He is the ultimate judge.

He demonstrates His love for us by sending his only son, Jesus Christ, to earth to pay the penalty we owe God for our actions….Death. Jesus was crucified, buried, and rose from the dead on the third day for it was impossible for death to hold him.

Now that the price has been paid, all who accept that price paid on their behalf, by accepting Jesus into their hearts, come into right standing with God. Their sins have been paid for completely by what God himself has done for them. People can and will still choose to reject the truth, and refuse to believe that there is a God, and that they are not right with him.

I preach the gospel because My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, has commanded me to. He says in the Bible, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15) and “if you love me, obey my commands” (John 14:15). I preach the gospel because Jesus paid the ultimate price, for anyone who would turn from their sin, believe the truth, and receive Him as Lord and savior.

“If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). Jesus says “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life” (John 5:24).
