Jesus Saves

November 21, 2012

There is nothing that brings me more  joy than when God allows me the kindness to witness a sinner come to an end of themselves, surrender their life Jesus, and choose to follow Him.  I would just like to share this story with you to hopefully encourage you and remind you of the goodness of our God and that He is truly mighty to save!

A couple months ago, my friend and I scheduled to have a playdate with our sons at the library.  She called and said she was so sorry and she wasn’t going to be there for over an hour, so my son and I decided to play outside the library where the fountain area was and just wait.  In the providence of God, that’s where I met Randi Sue.  Randi Sue had just moved here from Utah with her husband and two kids.  I invited her to MOPS, which for those of you who don’t know, is a Christian based moms group.  I asked her if she went to church and she said she didn’t, but that her husband was Catholic.  I shared the Gospel with her that morning, but there was no real response.

She showed up at MOPS the following Thursday and the speaker clearly shared the Gospel and encouraged us moms to find our rest in Jesus.  After the meeting I asked her what she thought of the message the speaker gave trying to find out where she was at with Jesus.  She started crying as she told me she left the Mormon church and didn’t want to go back, but wanted God to be a part of her life.  I ended up praying with her and getting her a bible and set up a time to get together for a playdate for our kids and for me to share with her more about what it meant to walk with Jesus.

Well my family kept getting sick and we never ended up getting that playdate.  I invited her to a Ladies Tea that my friend’s church was putting on.  She came expecting it just to be tea, not knowing there were speakers, and worship, even though it was on the invitation she received!

After the event was over I asked her how God had been speaking to her during the event.  We ended up talking for over an hour.  She was in tears when she said that she really wanted to give her life to Jesus and walk with him but she was scared of what people might think.  We talked about fear and I shared fears of mine with her before coming to Jesus and then I asked her if she was going to let Satan use fear to keep her from gaining eternal life and walking with Jesus.  Through tears she said, “N0,” then she ended up praying that day and making a decision to follow Christ.

She barely made it through her prayer because she was crying so hard.  It was so sweet and so refreshing to me to see someone so thankful and so happy for what God had done in their life.  I praise Jesus for him allowing me to be a part of that sweet and intimate time as Randi Sue chose life over death!
