When I was 22, I got saved and my life changed dramatically.  My dad got me a bible and I started reading it for the first time.  I always thought everyone went to heaven, but then I learned that we are all sinners and the punishment for our sin is hell.  The sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for us on the cross made it so that we could be set free from our sin and spend eternity in heaven with Him.  Jesus’ atonement for us was the BEST NEWS I had ever heard and I had to tell everyone about this amazing news.  I started calling my friends and telling my relatives, yet I didn’t quite know what exactly to say.  About a year later, my dad, who was interim pastor at Petaluma Christian Church, led us through, “The Way of the Master” video series during the morning Bible Study.  I learned biblically how to share my faith using the law, then grace.  My friend, Paul Kaiser, started a group of “fishers of men” and we started hitting up the streets of Santa Rosa going to the main bus stop in Santa Rosa, the DMV, and other places where we could talk to as many people as we could.

There is something so beautiful, so glorious, and so heavenly, when a group of believers, on fire for Jesus, jealous for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, flood the streets of their cities, proclaiming Jesus as Lord!  Sharing Jesus with my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ stirs in me a fire for Jesus that is unquenchable.  Everytime I get to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with someone it gets me so excited and it makes me love my Jesus more and more for what who He is and what He did for me.  Street witnessing also gets me into my bible more.  People ask some hard questions and as 1Peter 3:15 says, “…in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.”  It is so important for us as Christians to know what we believe and why we believe it.  Street witnessing has helped me to not be ignorant about my faith in Jesus Christ.

There are 155,000 people that die daily and if the bible is true (which it is) and they die without Jesus they will spend eternity in hell.  If I am a Christian and believe this truth, then it would be almost criminal of me, not to warn them and share the love of Jesus with them.  I love what David Davidson said.  He wrote,  “If you found a cure for cancer, wouldn’t it be inconceivable to hide it from the rest of mankind? How much more inconceivable to keep silent the cure from the eternal wages of death.”

I still get nervous sometimes and fear creeps in, but I try to remember that fear is not from God.  Satan wants me to be powered by my fear and not tell anyone about the wonderful message of our Lord.  I will not let Satan win.  2 Corinthians 5:20 says, “…we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.”  God has given us his glorious message of salvation and entrusted us to go and share it.  What an awesome privilege it is!
