Praying for Boldness and God’s Leading

September 29, 2013

What can I say, except God is good! He’s mighty, powerful and there is NO greater joy than when he works in you and through you.

Yesterday I was talking with a lady who was an AT&T Representative. We were on the phone for over 30 minutes and as we were finishing up she was saying how nothing in this life is free. At this point I had been listening to her try to promote a new program AT&T had for quite some time now and then The Lord gave me words to say something to her. So I went on to say, “Can I tell you about something that is free?” She said go right ahead. Then I said, “It’s about the gospel of Jesus Christ.”

She said go ahead and said something to the effect that she knew him and she was all ears. So I asked her, “Do you know that if you were to die that you would go to heaven?” She then replied, “Nobody knows that for sure.” To that I said, “Oh, but we can know!” I then shared some verses with her. John 3:16 says “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life”. I said, “This is a promise and God does not lie.” Also Romans 10:9 says, “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” She said,”Amen, hallelujah.” I told her that if I were to die, I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I would go to heaven, not based on ANYTHING I’ve done but based solely on what Jesus Christ did for me. On that cross, he took ALL my sins and paid for them.

She was a very passionate woman and kept saying, “Amen, hallelujah!” I said, “Though I was unrighteousness, Jesus made me righteous. He gave me right standing and brought me forgiveness for all my sins.” I’m not sure at what point she started to cry. But she said passionately, ” I receive your message. No one has shared it quite like this before.” I told her,” You can have assurance.” She just kept crying at this point and kept saying I receive your message. Thank you so much for sharing with me. I had explained to her also about how we need to be born again and how the Holy Spirit comes to live inside and is our inheritance guaranteeing our salvation. She continued cryingand saying he’s my comforter, my God, etc.

Then I asked if I could pray for her and she said yes. I asked her what she would like me to pray for her about? She said she’d like me to pray for her from the top of her head to the bottom of her toes. So I prayed for her and she was so thankful! She also said she’s not ashamed to tell anyone about her Lord. To that I said, “The fear of The Lord is the beginning of all wisdom” and how I needed more of that healthy fear in me. Then shortly after that we said our goodbyes.

It was interesting to me that she did not have assurance of her salvation. What a scary thought! We can not just assume that someone is saved because they say they believe in God, that they have assurance of their salvation or that they’re born again.

Lord lead us to share this Good News consistently and efficiently! Please use our mouths and give us words to say. Please work in us and through us. Apart from you we can do NOTHING worthy of your call or that will last throughout eternity. Give us your ears so we can hear you, your eyes so we can see others the way you do, and your heart for all the lost souls in this world because NOTHING is more important than a persons eternal salvation!!!
