SSU 1/15

January 27, 2013

The day before Karissa and I were heading out to SSU to share the Gospel with students I was having a very hard day full of tears and discouragement.  Then to top it off my babysitting fell through.  Thank God I didn’t give up and say, “Sorry. I can’t make it.”  That would have been the easy way out.  How many times do we take that road?
I now needed someone to watch my kids though so I could go evangelize.  I knew if God wanted me to be there that I would find a babysitter.  I called a friend who lived about 20 minutes away and she said she could watch them.  It was about an extra hour of driving that day just for me to go but I knew that’s what I was called to do.
I just have to say I’m so glad I went.  It was amazing!  One of the first girls I spoke to prayed to receive Jesus.  She thought because she went to church and she was a good person she’d go to heaven. But I explained to her that without being born again, (repenting and trusting in Jesus Christ alone) she wouldn’t go to heaven but to hell.  Then I explained that God doesn’t want anyone to go to hell that’s why he sent His only Son to pay for her sins. She wanted to be saved and understood that it could only be by God’s grace through repentance and faith in Jesus.  Then after praying with her God sent me on a mission to reach lost sinners.  There was nothing stopping me.  I pleaded with other students there and told them there’s nothing more important than our eternal salvation!  They seemed very open that day and very close to receiving Christ.
For two days I felt the joy of The Lord SO strongly because of my time at SSU.  I got to share with a guy who worked at Comcast who came out to my house.  He said he grew up going to church and after talking with me for a while he said it was something he’d definitely think about.
Let’s reach the world one person at a time.  Let’s make it our goal and mission to share the good news of Jesus Christ with as many people as we can.  The time is running short.  We could be gone tomorrow.  Or what about that friend or family member who’s lost and headed to a place of torment?  We need to wake up!  We need to get serious.  Jesus is coming again.  Let’s not let Satan trick us by thinking our loved ones will hear the gospel some other way, through someone else. The people in our lives are placed there for a reason.  Even the strangers we meet and those we talk to on the phone.  It’s good to be a Godly example to others and to invite them to church but let’s use saving words as well, (Like Jesus & the apostles did). What if you knew you had only a year left to live, a month, a week, a day?  Who doesn’t know the Savior of the world who paid for their sin?  Will they have to pay for their sin themselves by spending an eternity in eternal torment.  Let’s hope not!  Let’s share that Jesus is the Way, the Truth & the Life and that no one comes to the Father except through Him.  To God be the glory forever and ever,  Amen!
