SSU Student Wants Jesus by Laura Hadley

October 10, 2012

Our time at Sonoma State University was SO amazing and powerful!  Over the last year I’ve been sharing my faith more than I ever have in my life.  I’m trying to share daily but sometimes I fall prey to fear or don’t see an opportunity.  Since I’ve been sharing more consistently I’ve had one or two handfuls of people who wanted to receive Jesus Christ.  One woman’s husband didn’t want her to pray so I encouraged her to pray when she got home.  The other people expressed a seemingly real desire to repent and receive Jesus but wanted to do it privately once they got home.

But Tuesday at SSU was the first time in a whole year that a student was ready right then and their to surrender their life to God and pray to receive Jesus.  Hallelujah!  Praise Jesus!  There were 7 of us at SSU & it felt more powerful than ever!!!  God’s power and Spirit was overflowing through us.  There is nothing like it when the Creator of the Universe is moving in you and giving you words to say!!! It was like I couldn’t get the words out fast enough.

This one particular student shared that he and his parents used to go to church but they left because of the great hypocrisy they saw in a church elder.  So sad!  But at the end of our conversation I asked him if there was anything that would stop him from giving his life to Jesus right then.  He said, “No.”  I was stunned and excited!  At this point Karissa had come over and she was also excited!  So I asked him to tell me how a person goes to heaven?  He said, “Be good and follow the 10 commandments.”  He still didn’t quite fully understand, so Karissa said, “If we could get into heaven by our own merit and by our own goodness, Christ would have never had to die.”  We continued sharing with him telling him that none of us are good according to the bible.  We’re all sinners and Jesus is the ONLY way. Then I asked him again, do you still want to pray & receive Christ?  He said, “Yes.”  We bowed our heads and he prayed and then I prayed after him.

Thank you Jesus for allowing us to be a part in seeking to save the lost and furthering your kingdom!  Salvation is from the Lord!
Heavenly Father, please ignite a fire in your children to share Jesus more consistently. You command us to preach the Gospel to all creation.  Please help us to obey.  Help us not to be able to contain your truth, but to proclaim it to the world around us.  Please forgive us for fearing man more than we fear you.  Please give us strength to obey and please bind the enemy who wants us to be quiet about you. In Jesus’ name,  Amen!
