Please pray for Angry Student

April 17, 2012

Yesterday was our weekly witnessing outreach to Sonoma State.  Laura and I are there on Mondays handing out gospel tracts and engaging people in conversations about eternity and Jesus.   Another evangelist, Jarrod, joined us this time.   Like everytime we go out, we get some people who could care less and have no desire to talk with us and we get others that are truly interested and want to hear the truth of Jesus Christ.  There have only been a couple times when I have been talking to someone one-on-one and they have gotten angry, screaming at me as I share with them.  Yesterday, was one such occasion.  Jarrod was engaged in a conversation with some students and things started to get really loud.  I left my conversation and headed over to see what was going on.  The student then started yelling and cursing and completely blaspheming the name of our Savior.  My heart just broke for this young man who was cursing the very God who gave Him life and the only One who could give Him hope and the salvation that we all so desperately need.  He was so outraged and I couldn’t help but think, “What has made this young man so extremely upset that he would yell and curse at us and at God?”  He had Jarrod’s bible in his hand, and I kept asking for it back, then he threw it on the ground and commenced to stomp multiple times on it.  Jesus’ words came to mind in John 15:18 where he tells his disciples, “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.”  Again, my heart ached, but this time for Jesus.  Romans 5:8 says, “but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”  What an amazing, merciful, gracious God that we have, that He would die for us, WHILE we were still sinners.  None of us deserve so great a salvation, yet because of the great mercy of our Savior, he went to the cross for us. Please pray for this student.  I unfortunately did not get his name.  Please pray that God would take out his heart of stone and replace it with a heart of flesh, just like he did you and I.  Pray that the God of the Universe would come and reveal Himself to this young man and this young man would have no choice, but to fall to his knees in repentance of his sins and put his faith and trust in Jesus Christ.  Praise God that we have an all-powerful God that is MIGHTY to save!  Jesus is LORD!
